LEAP Bridge Steel Help

Home Tab

The Home Tab will display the main menu ribbon as shown above. A brief description of each item follows:
  • Status Bar - selecting this box will display the Status bar at the bottom of the main graphic window.
  • Bridge Definition - selecting this box will display the bridge definition command tree.
  • Roadway - selecting this box will enable display of the roadway ridgelines in the main 3D view.
  • Add Bridge - select this box to add another bridge to the current project. The dialog shown below will appear:



    • Select the Create a new default bridge radio button to create a new empty bridge container.
    • Select the Create a new bridge by copying radio button. The new bridge will be copied from the existing bridge selected in the existing bridge drop-down list (this list becomes active when the Create a new bridge by copying option is selected.
    • Bridge ID: - Enter the name of the new bridge in this field.
    • OK – press this button to create the new bridge. When the new bridge is created it will appear in the bridge list as shown below:



      The selected bridge becomes the active bridge used for design and analysis.
    • Cancel - press this button to exit the command without taking action.
    • Remove Bridge - Select this command to remove the current active bridge from the project.
    • Refresh Bridge - Select this command to refresh the current bridge 3D display and auto dead load computations.
    • Specifications - Select the version of the AASHTO Bridge Design Specification to be used. Options are 6th Edition with 2015 interims or 7th Edition with 2016 interims
    • State Specs - Select the state from the dropdown list. The current selection option is:
      • Pennsylvania. Options are:
        • Allow double truck in span - if this option is checked LEAP Bridge Steel will allow (if possible) both trucks of a PHL-93 double truck to be in the same span when generating maximum load effect at an interior support (as opposed to both trucks being placed in adjacent spans per AASHTO):
    • Appurtenance Library - Select this command to activate the Appurtenance Library. See Appurtenance Library for more information.
    • Vehicle Library - Select this command to activate the vehicle Library. See Vehicle Library for more information
    • Material Library - Select this command to activate the Material Library. See Material Library for more information.
    • DTM – if a digital terrain model was imported into LEAP Bridge Steel, select it from the list for display in the main 3D view.
    • View All Bridges - if more than one bridge model are in the project, select this option to display them in the main 3D view.
    • Save DGN - Select this command to save the entire bridge model to a 3D MicroStation file.
    • Generate Drawings - Select this command to open the Generate Drawings commands.
    • Input Data - Select this command to generate a report of all geometric data associated with the bridge model.
    • Deck Elevations - Select this command to open the Deck Elevation report tool.
    • Material Quantities - Select this command to open the Material Quantities report tool.
    • Analysis/Design - Select this command to access the Analysis and Design Reports. There are the same reports that are accessed from the Analysis and Design commands.
    • Tutorials - Select the LEAP Bridge Steel Tutorial 1 (Straight Bridge) or Tutorial 2 (Curved bridge) from the list of tutorials.
    • RSS Feeds - Select RSS (Really Simple Syndication) reader to display the most current information about LEAP programs that will be for your use, such as program updates, critical issues etc.

      Each news item is identified with a title which is a link to a website and can be clicked on and will launch your web browser and load that website and a brief summary of the item.

    • Units - Select US (English) or SI (Metric) units.
